More about our intentions

We began this project at school with the instruction of making a 2.5D action game. We took this instruction very literraly with a very simple concept : divide the progression of the player between two layouts, one in the foreground, and one deeper in the background. To use the full potential of this concept, we gave the player the possibility to teleport between those layouts.

We really wanted a fast-paced game, so we insisted on the fluidity and the clarity of the controls, and designed wide-opened levels in which the player can use the mechanics in a dynamic way. It gives the game a high speedrun potential.

What I learnt

Design problems and solutions

During this project, I learnt to quickly identify design problems which could dessert the experience, and to bring strong solutions to solve them. The short time of production constrained me to have a clear vision of where the project was, and where it needed to go. It allowed me to strenghten my game designer way of thinking.

Team working especially with other professions

This is the first project I worked on with a dedicated team of game programmers and a sound designer. It allowed me to improve on team working with other professions and understand their role in a production. If I am proud of this project, it is mainly due to the good communication, through clear documentation, disponibility and cohesion in the team.
